Добрый день, давайте познакомимся с идиомой “play the field“.

“play the field” можно приблизительно перевести как “играть на все поле”, то есть, покрывать своей деятельностью (в данном случае в основном интимной) много людей, а не фиксироваться на одном постоянном партнере.

play the field” means: to date many people romantically and sexually, to have a lot of intimate partners, to have many romantic or sexual relationships.
